Phase 3 for Austrian tomato nursery Kainz & Mayer

Austrian grower Kainz & Mayer Marchfeldtomaten is expanding with 4 hectares of greenhouse, making it the largest tomato nursery in Austria.

The Kainz & Mayer Marchfeldtomaten family business is located in Obersiebenbrunn, Austria. The entrepreneurs Kainz & Mayer grow truss, cherry and cocktail tomatoes. In order to better meet market demand and serve customers even better in the future they are expanding their nursery with a further 4 hectares. This will make the company the largest tomato grower in Austria, with a total acreage of 13 hectares.

The packing area will be enlarged with 1,500 square meters and office space will be doubled. Besides financial assistance of Kainz & Mayer, Elsman Bouw is providing construction supervision of phase 3. The technical installations and irrigation systems are also being expanded.

"Sustainability is very important for us. We produce GMO free, go for flavorful varieties and in growing also fully focus on flavor," says Thomas Mayer. Peter Kainz adds that the expansion creates opportunities. "Thanks to the collaboration and expansion we can work more efficiently, besides ensuring taste and quality."
