Bayer wins social media award for Twitter campaign

Bayer has been recognized by PR News with the Best Twitter Community Engagement Award for its "Bayer gets scientifically social" campaign. The award was announced at PR News' 2016 Social Media Awards luncheon in Miami.

"I am extremely proud of our U.S. social media team for winning this award," said Raymond F. Kerins, Jr., Senior Vice President and Head of Communications, Government Relations and Policy at Bayer Corporation. "Community engagement is an integral part of Bayer's overall communications strategy, Engage and Educate, and no one best exemplifies this strategy than our social media team."

"Any way you slice it, for brands, nonprofits, and agencies, social media remains a risky and resource-intensive proposition. It's a great challenge to prove that communications efforts on social results in actions that drive purchases, donations, membership, community action, yet we all know that social media is where people live," said Steve Goldstein, editorial director of PR News. "Our 2016 Social Media Awards recognize those communications teams that took and won the gamble on social media for their own organizations and clients, across a still-humbling array of platforms and apps."

The Bayer US Twitter account has achieved 98% growth since January 2015.
