South Korea: Greenhouse control system to ease smart farming

KT has launched ‘KT GiGA Smart Farm’, which provides enhanced greenhouse control systems at reduced installation costs.

KT GiGA Smart Farm Service is a solution which analyzes temperature, humidity, solar irradiance, concentration rate of carbon dioxide, and soil condition through sensor-embedded IoT device at cultivation facilities. The system will analyze the collected data and run control systems accordingly, establishing the optimal environment for crops.

According to a survey by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, 53.8 percent of respondents said that the burden of early investment and maintenance expenses are the biggest obstacles to introducing smart farm systems.

KT has applied the smart farm technology that is developed in the KT Institute of Convergence Technology to lighten the burden of early investment. In this way, the expenses of introducing smart farm systems are reduced by up to 40 percent.
