US (MO): Hummert prepares for annual greenhouse & hydroponics seminars

In the summer, not only do Hummert International get to witness the fruits of their spring labor in the business success of its customers, but they also get to teach and consult with those same customers, through two of their courses: "Greenhouse Operations and Management Short Course" and "Hydroponics Short Course". Each short course offers the attendee the ability to learn, discuss, and share relevant and current issues, challenges, and opportunities in the greenhouse and hydroponics areas.



Greenhouse Operations and Management, short course
The 21st annual Greenhouse Operations and Management, Short Course is scheduled to be held in St. Louis, Missouri on June 7, 2016 through June 9, 2016. Led by industry experts and representatives from area universities and colleges, this course will include hands-on sessions in growing media, soil and water testing, and plant propagation and will cover the following topics: Plant Growing Media; Fertilizers; Water Quality; Soil and Water Testing; Greenhouse Lighting; Insect Identification and Disease Control; Garden Mums; Spring Crops and Poinsettia Production; Ordering Plants and Cuttings; Plant Propagation; Teaching Ideas and Topics. Also included is a tour of Monsanto’s local research greenhouse facility.

Hydroponics, Short Course
The 2nd annual Hydroponics, Short Course is scheduled to be held in St. Louis, Missouri on June 14, 2016 through June 15, 2016. Led by industry experts and representatives from area universities and colleges, this course will include hands-on sessions in nutrient and water testing, seed sowing, and transplanting and will cover the following topics: The Past, Present, and Future of Hydroponics; Plant Nutrition; Nutrient and Water Testing; Fertilizer Injectors; Hydroponic Lettuce and Herb Production; Insect Identification and Control; Plant Diseases and Control; Hydroponic Greenhouse Cucumber and Tomato Production; Recirculation Aquaculture Systems. Also included is a tour of several local hydroponic greenhouse facilities.

Space is limited and there is a registration fee for each course which covers course materials, books, catalogues, lunch and refreshments for each day, and chartered bus transportation to and from the greenhouse facility tours.
