VB Group leads project:

Dutch propagator Vreugdenhil-Klugt expands to 10 hectares

The long-standing cooperation between Dutch young plant grower Vreugdenhil - Klugt with the VB Group will be continued once more. The modern glasshouses in De Lier will be expanded this summer to a total acreage of over 10 hectare.

An agreement concerning the last enlargement, a greenhouse of almost 2.5 hectare and climate systems was reached mid February between both companies. This new project is a follow-up to the projects of 2012 and 2014, which were also carried out by VB Group. This new expansion allows the plant nursery Vreugdenhil to address the growing demand for vegetable young plants and and flowering pot plants.

The project in Holland is one of the few domestic projects for VB Group, as they are very active in new and existing export markets. "We believe it is important to stay active in the Netherlands as greenhouse builder. Not only for the Dutch market, but also for foreign clients located outside the country, who visit us regularly", says Winkel. In addition to the greenhouse also the climate system will be installed by VB. For this, the preparations are already made in the previous stages, allowing a fast and efficient connection to the existing climate system.

The expansion of plant nursery Vreugdenhil should further enhance the quality of the plants, improve efficiency, and the centralisation of the propagation. The existing hygiene protocol should be further professionalised, by keeping the production flows, routing and water systems strictly separated. Grower John Vreugdenhil: "The implementation of the former greenhouse- and heating projects went according to planning and agreement. As a nursery we highly value the importance of maintaining the year-long excellent relationship with our suppliers. Of course we are negotiating in a business-like way, but focus on arriving at solutions together. As long as this is the intention from both sides, we will get very far.” The expansion of the plant nursery will be operational in autumn 2016.
