New spray technology looking for funds to develop

A global product development firm claims to have designed a new eco-friendly spray technology that could cut farm chemical use by 99 per cent.

According to US and UK-based Cambridge Consultants, their new technology, which is still under development, has “potential” to drastically reduce chemical costs, benefiting both farmers’ pockets and the environment.

Cambridge Consultants — a firm that works in many fields, including medical product development — tapped into expertise in microfluidics and machine vision algorithms to develop the new spray droplet technology.

The firm — which is looking for a partner to commercialise the technology — asserts its design will enable active chemicals to be applied only where needed; and that it can identify and target a specific leaf or bug from a height of 50cm.
