Georgia: Spanish strawberries grow in Kakheti

Bio strawberries that originated in Spain are being grown in Georgia’s Kakheti region ahead of the early spring harvest.

In Ninogori village a young Georgian farmer is about to reap the benefits of his agriculture investment and pick his first harvest of Spanish strawberries at the end of February.

Farmer Giorgi Darejanashvili used his own funds to build a 300 m2 greenhouse to grow Spanish strawberries, which he believed would be in great demand in Georgia.

Strawberry picking will start in the coming days and last for about one month.
