Indian space agency to join NASA in plant research?

The NASA Planetary Science Division Director, James Green, will lead the USA delegation in technical discussions related to Mars findings and collaboration with the ISRO team, the American Embassy in New Delhi stated in a press release issued on Wednesday. Scientists are especially interested in looking at the problems which a plant can face in space, like growth of fungus or the presence of mold on the leaves.

This includes the UAE's mission to Mars, when the 2020 launch of the Hope probe will make the UAE the first Arab country to reach the Red Planet, and Nasa's Deep Space Network, a worldwide array of radio antennas created to support interplanetary spacecraft missions and provide radar and radio astronomy observations to explore the solar system and universe. "We're being farmers in space," NASA astronaut Scott Kelly said in a blog post published Friday. Regardless, the ISS' zinnia plants were subject to "stressors" the plants on Earth are not.
