After a year in which tomato exports grew, Cooperativa Agricola Arrabito closed 2015 with an increased turnover. "At the beginning of the year, cabbage did very well in terms of revenue, just like white and streaked courgettes reached good average prices," explains sales manager Paolo Ficili.
"The price of cherry tomatoes was stable and foreign demand continued until September 2015, which was rather unusual seen that local produce was also available."
"For what concerns 2016, the start was not so good as foreign demand was slow for courgettes, aubergines, tomatoes and cabbages thus leading to lower prices. The French market, for example, is going through a rough period and demand has dropped."
"The prices of aubergines and courgettes have been very low. This is due to the quotations of the Spanish produce, which are competitive for good quality products that have a long shelf-life and are therefore appreciated by retailers. In addition, the mild weather extended local production."
"We are hoping things will improve so that the year will be satisfactory, though it is impossible to reach the results recorded in 2015."

At the fair, the cooperative will showcase its specialities, in particular: 16-fruit bunch cherry tomatoes, coloured miniplum tomatoes, yellow date tomatoes, cabbage, oval black aubergines and white and streaked courgettes.
