"US (TX): Plant propagation workshop "Double your plants"

“Double your Plants: Plant Propagation” will be the topic of a hands-on program Jan. 23 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Brazoria County Office, 21017 County Road 171, Angleton.

The workshop, from 10 a.m.-noon, is part of the Backyard Basics series that teaches the art of self-reliance, according to Elizabeth McMahon, AgriLife Extension Brazoria County horticulture agent.

“The Backyard Basics program will host 10 programs through September to provide consumers, backyard gardeners, homemakers, educators and farmers with do-it-yourself learning opportunities,” she said. “We’ll cover everything from canning and vegetable gardening to Dutch oven cooking and raising chickens.”

The plant propagation session will demonstrate seed propagation as well as propagating from cuttings and grafting. Participants will get to try the techniques and will keep the plants they propagate during the workshop, McMahon said.

The cost of the event is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. To register online, go to http://brazoria.agrilife.org or call 979-864-1558. This class is limited to the first 24 registrants.
