Kenya: Plans for industrial park still on, says county official

Nakuru head of communication Eddy Kimani has confirmed that the plans to construct a multi-billion industrial park in the county are still on.

The agri-business park, which was first announced in 2013, and expected to cost the county government Sh180 million, was part of the county’s five-year integrated development plan to be implemented by 2017.

It was expected to create jobs for more than 10,000 residents in the area.

On Thursday, Kimani said the county was still conducting feasibility studies on the land near Hell's Gate National Park. “This is a long term plan and hence the reason why the park is taking some time to be set up. However, the plans are still on and soon it will be operational,” he added.
