UK: Supermarket shopper who broke hip after slipping on tomato is offered £425

A pensioner who says she was left in agony with a broken hip after slipping on a squashed tomato on a supermarket floor was offered £424 as a "goodwill gesture".

June Powers, 84, underwent a hip replacement operation less than 24 hours after the incident at Lidl in Station Road, Sandiacre.

Mrs Powers, of Sycamore Crescent, Sandicare, is now urging Lidl to do more to keep its aisles clean to avoid further accidents in the future.
