More than 120 food producers were certified organic last year, 17% more than in the previous year. Romanian companies focused on vegetables, fruit and pastries, according to an analysis from ZF based on Eurostat data.
"In recent years, we have seen a growing demand for organic products on the market. Interest from consumers in this developing segment is certainly on the rise. So far, the share of organic products in the market corresponds mainly to imports and we believe that there is a real opportunity for Romanian producers," explained Catalina Aldea, retail management consultant.
