China opens borders to Dutch bell peppers

China is the world’s biggest producer of food. And yet, they’re increasingly opening their borders for products from elsewhere. Last year, the borders were opened for pears, and soon bell peppers will join them. Today, the Dutch secretary of state Sharon Dijksma will sign an innitial agreement that will allow the import of Ducth bell peppers to the Chinese market. 

The agreement singing is part of the Dutch trade mission to China this week and will allow Dutch growers of greenhouse bell peppers to export their produce to China. This will make Holland one of the first exporters of greenhouse vegetables to China. 

Earlier this year, China opened the borders for Canadian cucumbers as well.
