US (IA): Tenco greenhouse almost ready to grow

Where some see difficulty, others see opportunity. Tenco’s directors and staff found an opportunity to address two problems at once. The project, a commercial-sized greenhouse, can be seen north of Ottumwa, off of Highway 149.

“It’s up, and it’s almost completed,” said Bob Merritt, Tenco’s environmental services director. “They started two weeks ago, and finished last Sunday. The building was put up by professionals. We’ll do most of the inside work ourselves except for the electrical and plumbing.”

The structure is hard to miss, he added: It’s 120 feet long and nearly 100 feet wide. The question remains, however: Why a greenhouse?
