Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to develop mechanisms for reducing the cost of electricity for farmers to grow vegetables in greenhouses before February 1 next year, it was written on the website of the Kremlin on Tuesday.
"The Government … to develop and implement mechanisms to provide for the possibility of reducing the cost of, or compensating for the cost of, the electricity used in greenhouse vegetable production, in the implementation of investment projects and (or) the operations of the relevant facilities," it said in a statement.
The instruction was given as a result of the September meeting on the development of agriculture. The head of state gave until December 15 to provide partial reimbursement of costs incurred for the construction of pig farms, and specialised farms for the fattening and rearing of dairy cattle.
By that same date, budget allocations for the implementation of measures to increase the area of reclaimed land need to be increased.
In addition, Putin has instructed the cabinet to consider increasing the amount of compensation from 20% to 35% for the direct costs incurred from the construction and modernisation of dairy farms.
