What a lot of people do not realise is that East Yorkshire has the largest area of glasshouses in the country.
The salad industry is huge and the need to grow the seedlings to start with also takes up many acres of greenhouses. It used to be back-breaking work and probably still is to a degree, but a lot of strawberries and salads are now grown on long benches.
