AU: Tim’s tomatoes big enough to feed the whole Greek family

What is round and red and is the same size as a soccer ball? A giant Greek tomato, that’s what.

Tim’s Garden Centre owner Tim Pickles acquired the giant Greek tomato from King Charcoal Chicken Campbelltown owner Arthur Panoutsopoulos and is selling the seedlings to raise money for the African Aids Foundation.

Mr Panoutsopoulos’ family have grown the heirloom tomato on their farm in the Greek village of Petri for generations.

“The fruit are almost like small soccer balls in size. And they can weigh over a kilo.”

The plants cost $4.50 each and are available at Tim’s Garden Centre, Queen St, Campbelltown.
