US (IN): Indoor farming operation proposed for South Bend

Plans call for building a 20,000 square foot indoor farming facility inside the South Bend city limits.

Using L.E.D. lights, the farm would grow leafy green vegetables like lettuce, spinach and kale.

“This is a very promising approach to production, food production and I can only see it growing,” said Chancellor Thomas Coley of Ivy Tech North Central.

Green Sense Farms already has a 30,000 square foot indoor farm in Portage, Indiana. The private company plans to build its next facility on the South Bend campus of Ivy Tech Community College.
