Kenya: Makongeni farmers encouraged to embrace greenhouse farming

Farmers in Makongeni, Thika have been encouraged to embrace greenhouse farming as a way of increasing productivity and profitability.

Speaking in Makongeni on Monday, Kamenu MCA Mary Hussein noted that some farmers are already practising greenhouse farming and reaping good results from it.

Hussein said that the area's climate had drastically changed over the years and therefore there is the need to embrace a modern type of farming, that will ensure a regular supply of food for consumption by locals and the town's population.

"It is high time farmers in this area embraced greenhouse farming to start enjoying the benefits of this type of farming. Change is inevitable in this such kind of unpredictable weather,” said Hussein.
