36 hecares at BelOrta

Belgian tomato acreage with artificial lighting increases 70%

The acreage with tomatoes under artificial lighting will increase by 70% to a total of 36ha at the cooperative BelOrta. "In the winter period BelOrta will continue to provide tomatoes. This is our response to the demand from the trade for a continuous supply of fresh and locally produced first class product."

Continuity

BelOrta producers engage themselves with providing the market with Flandria tomatoes year-round.

Local and fresh produce
"This year-round supply of locally grown product adds value for the trade. The freshness also makes the difference on a market where many imports are offered."

Wide range
BelOrta offers seven segments this winter: Prince, Princess, Elite, Baron, Prunella, Mini Star and Cherry Star. The crops will be sold with specific markings on the packaging. "The packaging possibilities are endless but we like to think along with our customers for other solutions."
