India: Architect promotes organic farming in Mysuru district

This architect with a decades-long stint in many multi-national companies had also been an employee of quasi-governments in Canada, Singapore and Malaysia. But his urge to serve his motherland made him quit high-paying jobs. Now, he has been passionately encouraging agriculturists in Karnataka to take up organic farming.

Meet 44-year-old C Balachandran, a native of Tamil Nadu, who is now serving at Nesara Organic Farmers' Society, a public-private enterprise in Mysuru, for the past five years. He has been promoting organic products and encouraging organic farmers.

Balachandran was drawn to the heritage city while he was working as an architect in Bengaluru. "When I was serving in Bengaluru, I used to visit Mysuru. After frequent visits to the city, I thought of making it my home," he said, adding that the city is a fine blend of modernity and tradition. "We can feel both," he said.
