US (ON): Many varieties at Poinsettia open house

And last Friday researchers at Vineland Research and Innovation Centre got a little insight into what the customer wants. The third annual Poinsettia Open House was quite the success, organizers say, attracting hundreds to the Vineland greenhouse to check out the dozens of different varieties on display.

“It’s always an interest for the public to come in and see what actually goes on here,” said Wayne Brown, greenhouse floriculture specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and who works at VRIC.

Visitors last Friday were able to check out the many varieties – there were 76 reds on display alone, to go with varieties of other colours and hues – and vote for their favourites.
