Canada: Truly Green aiming for big impact with smaller carbon footprint

Truly Green Farms of Chatham is moving closer to setting a new standard of growing environmentally-friendly greenhouse tomatoes.

Chatham Rotarians were given a first-hand look at the unique operation during their meeting Wednesday.

Truly Green is building a 90-acre greenhouse complex on Bloomfield Road across from the GreenField Specialty Alcohols facility.

“The goal of the whole operation is to be one of the most productive, most energy-efficient greenhouse operations in Ontario or Canada,” said Greg Devries, one of the owners, as he explained Truly Green's concept.
