US (MN): University of Minnesota units partner to create interactive e-book for strawberry growers

University of Minnesota, Morris Center for Small Towns (CST) and Instructional and Media Technologies (IMT), the West Central Research and Outreach Center (WCROC), and the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Research Sciences (CFANS) have partnered to address the needs of strawberry growers in the region. The units came together to create a free, interactive e-book to help area strawberry growers extend their season.

CST facilitated conversations and focus groups with both organic and non-organic farmers to gain a better understanding of their questions, ideas, and needs and to assess the effectiveness of the developing materials. Lizzie Gelderman ’14 Shoreview, convened and recorded the conversations and made the information accessible to those involved in writing the e-book.

“I'm very excited that I was part of this project, as I believe it will be a great asset in better educating farmers on growing strawberries in this climate,” says Knott.
