During four successive growth seasons PKM has tested the Fionia Lighting LED systems and has been involved in developing light recipes and perfecting the FL300 fixture. During the growth season 2011/2012 more than 100,000 Campanula flowers were grown under these LED lights, and the results demonstrate that the following benefits are possible:
- Up to 50% electrical saving compared to 400 watt HPS system (Electromagnetic ballast)
- Up to 35% electrical saving compared to new 1,000 watt HPS system (Electronic Ballast)
- The savings are archived by installing fewer watt/m2 and in combination an improved homogeneity of light
Erik Moes, CEO at PKM, states:“Setting up FL300 is as easy as HPS systems, and the LED system is now as integrated in the climate control system of Senmatic DGT as opening the windows. The big advantage of the FL300 is that we can control both the light intensity and the spectral composition centrally or with the tablet PC directly in the greenhouse. Furthermore we can of course not ignore the huge electricity saving. All of these facts and benefits have led to a further investment in more Fionia Lighting fixtures”
