A quarter of UK kids have never tasted a tomato

Only a quarter of UK children get their five fruit and vegetables a day and almost 450,000 children don’t eat any fruit and veg at all. These new statistics, taken from a survey of 2,000 UK parents, and revealed by the free, healthy eating, educational programme, ‘Eat Like A Champ’, have exposed some concerning truths.

Other shocking stats showed that according to their parents, more than three in 10 kids have never tasted a banana, a quarter have never tasted a tomato and more than four in 10 have never tasted lettuce.

More than half of parents said that they wanted to see schools do more to educate their children about healthy eating.
