US (MO): Monsanto to give $1 million over 2 years to support Ferguson

Monsanto Co. said it will give four nonprofit organizations $1 million over two years to help support community development initiatives in Ferguson and surrounding North County communities.

The funding includes:
$500,000 to the United Way of Greater St. Louis’ Ferguson Fund, which was developed to help people affected by unrest in Ferguson.

$200,000 to the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, to help launch the “Save Our Sons: Workforce Development Initiative,” which aims to help males ages 21 to 34 pass General Educational Development tests.

$200,000 to the Reinvest North County Fund, recently formed by the St. Louis Regional Business Council and North County Inc., to provide immediate assistance to area businesses recovering from damage to their stores.

$100,000 to Legal Services of Eastern Missouri to support its efforts in providing free legal assistance to local residents.
