Longtime Plainview resident Ruby Nichols had quite a surprise when she cut into a store-bought tomato to discover that the seeds inside were already sprouting. She purchased the tomato in a sealed package of five still attached on the vine at a grocery store. When she sliced it opened, Nichols initially thought that there were worms inside. However, upon closer examination she discovered multiple sprouts, some with tiny leaves beginning to form. It’s the first time she has ever seen anything of the sort.
