FloraHolland: Satisfied review of the Flowers Expo in Moscow

With around 15 exporters and 40 growers, the floricultural collective placed just by the entrance to the Flowers Expo in Moscow was a real eyecatcher (orange).

The Flowers Expo in Moscow is the most important trade fair for East European flowers and plant traders. It was held this year from September 17 to 19 and attracted over 13,000 visitors. Around 500 participants from 27 countries took part. With around 15 exporters and 40 growers, the floricultural collective placed just by the entrance to the Crocus Expo was a real eyecatcher (orange).

Satisfied participants

Conducting business and networking were very important in Moscow, and both were successful during the fair for all parties. Stefan Slijkerman, representing Slijkerman Kalanchoë for Decorum Company, looked back with satisfaction, "The Russian market is an interesting growth market for us. This fair gives us the opportunity to display our product, gather knowledge and establish contacts. That has definitely succeeded with the large number of visitors."

Piet Caspers, sales representative for Hukra B.V., added, "The fair and collaboration with FloraHolland are already bearing fruit. We were barely known in Russia beforehand. Now the first follow-up talks are already being arranged with potential customers. We are seriously thinking about participating next year as well."

Honest word

About 7 percent of the total export from the Netherlands finds its way to Russia. But succeeding in business in Russia takes time.
"In Russia it is essential to build up relations and trust. Once that is in place, business becomes fruitful," says Joram Wijnaendts van Resandt, Market Developer Russia & CIS at FloraHolland. "A contract is less valuable to Russians than 'Честное слово', literally translated as 'honest word'. By attending the fair together with dealers and growers, we start building this up."

The preparations for next year have already started. Would you like to participate or obtain more information? Please contact Joram Wijnaendts van Resandt at T: 06-13276067 or Email: [email protected].
