Philippines: DA approves rubber plant nursery budget for Jimenez

The Department of Agriculture (DA), region 10, has recently approved the P320,000 budget for the rubber nursery project, here.

This was announced by Jimenez municipal agriculture officer (MAO) Rodrigo S. Simbajon, during a meeting of the Jimenez Rubber Growers Association Inc. at the Liga ng Barangay Hall at the municipal grounds.

Already downloaded to the Jimenez Municipal Government Account, the money is intended to be used to put up a rubber nursery in the municipality.

Part of the amount will be used to buy seeds, budded rubber seedlings for the bud wood garden, cellophane bagging and other things needed in producing rubber seedlings, Simbajon said.

The activities of the rubber industry in Jimenez are jointly undertaken by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Misamis Occidental and DA-Jimenez Local Government Unit (LGU).

The DTI handles the rubber industry cluster as part of its National Industry Cluster Capability Enhancement Program (NICCEP) while DA handles it under its High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), Simbajon added. (MLC/RCA/PIA10-Misamis Occidental).
