Netherlands: Symposium hydroponics during Seed meets Technology

A better controllable production, residue-free, low-emission, a clean and safe product. Regarding these topics, cultivation on water offers good opportunities. Currently, several systems for cultivation are on the market. In the Netherlands, technicians, seed companies, sales organizations and more and more growers know the advantages of hydroponics. On the 24th of September, during the Seed meets Technology, you can learn more about the latest developments regarding cultivation on water. The symposium starts at 13:00 o’clock at proeftuin Zwaagdijk.



Joyce Schroot, innovation manager at the vegetable cutting company Hessing Supervers, will open the symposium. The company supplies supermarkets and tests products that are cultivated on water. She will discuss the characteristics and perspectives of products that are cultivated on water. The second lecture will be given by Maurice van der Knaap from Cultivation Systems. He designed the Dry Hydroponics-system. Afterwards, Jan Botman from Botman Hydroponics will tell more about a new hydroponic system that is able to separate clean rain water from basin water with nutrients. The fourth speaker is Matthijs Blind from proftuin Zaagdijk. Matthijs is project manager of the project ‘Teelt de grond uit’ and investigates different aspects concerning cultivation on water since 2007. During his lecture, different technical aspect regarding cultivation will be discussed.



Around 14:30 o’clock, the visitors will attend a guided tour along the Botman Hydroponic cultivation system and the project ‘ Teelt de grond uit'. Afterwards, it is possible to visit a species demo at Syngenta. Lettuce crops like Batavia Lollo Green, Lollo Red, Bellagio Green, and Bellagio Red are grown on this field. At 16:30, the symposium will be finished.
