In the coming season, KesgrO's entire acreage will be filled with Axiradius, the new medium calibre vine tomato of Axia Vegetable Seeds; this entails that nearly 37 hectares of Axiradius will be grown in North-Holland this season.
It had already been announced in the past that the company had filled a quarter of its acreage with Axiradius (HTL1206430). That crop will be introduced in the greenhouse in early September and extend over the following few weeks.

Ad van Kester and Paul Grootscholten of KesgrO
Paul Grootscholten, of KesgrO, said that the variety's resistance against yellow crowns has been the most decisive factor in their choice. The company's sales are processed through Harvest House. "Consumers increasingly refuse yellow crowns and we have been looking for a solution for years; we now have it and we consequently took it with both hands."
The fact that Axiradius can be pruned on seven for longer also played a role in the choice, as it opens possibilities to control the fruit weight. Other features include flat trusses and average fruit weight of 105-125 grams.
