Israel: Genesis Premium introduces new robotic greenhouse for growing basil

Genesis Premium Herbs Ltd is proud to introduce the first robotic greenhouse in the world dedicated to the growth of fresh Basil. In partnership with a market and technological innovator in the cultivation and export of fresh herbs for 20 years, Genesis Premium Herbs has combined innovative and state-of-the-art greenhouse automation technologies, together with the most advanced Israeli plant science and irrigation techniques. The result is a facility that is the first of its kind worldwide, and will forever change your perception of quality and consistency in the Basil market.

Covering an area of over a hectare, our new greenhouse is filled with Basil that is grown in an automated system of moving tables. All planting is robotic, takes place in a climate controlled working area, in a nutrient-rich soil, and without any direct human contact. Plants circulate throughout the greenhouse until they reach the peak of maturity, where they return to the working area for harvest, packing, and cold storage. Irrigation, fertilization, and climate are all tightly controlled, offering our customers a year-round supply of the finest quality Basil ever produced, at competitive prices.

Sealed from the outside without any farm labour in the growing area, and topped by a polycarbonate roof, the entire operation is tightly controlled by a touch screen computer, engineered to provide optimal growing conditions.

Some of the key advantages to our system:
  • A product with longer shelf life due to maintaining the optimal temperature throughout the supply chain: 8° C to 10° C from harvest to your door
  • Free from insects and disease while using minimal pesticides
  • Safe product with reduced risk of bacterial contamination due to minimal manual contact and meticulous quality assurance procedures
  • 100% of our Basil is from the first crop only (first cut of a new plant), guaranteeing our worldwide customers the freshest and highest quality merchandise every day
