US (WI): Kraynik's Greenhouse opens for its fifth season in Kewaunee

Spring may feel like it is slow in coming, but that will not stop the growing season from making an entrance. At Kraynik’s Greenhouse, owner Todd Kraynik and his wife, Linda, have more than 350 hanging flower and plant baskets, which will come on sale April 26 for their 2014 opening day of business.

Two lush greenhouses are being filled with a wide variety of flowers, which may not be fully bloomed at this time, but with warmer weather will be.

“The flowers are two weeks behind because of the lingering winter, but people can come out, look at what we have and purchase their flowers, which we are willing to hold onto until the weather is favorable,” Kraynik said.

As the plants are growing in their baskets, they each have an individual waterline, which Kraynik can turn on and off as necessary. The temperature in the greenhouses stays between 60 and 65 degrees at all times.

Todd and Linda are in partnership with his parents, Ken and Judy Kraynik, in the operation of the berry farm. Kraynik’s Greenhouse is opening for its fifth season, and they will be featuring an exquisite array of plants including, but not limited to, begonias, supertunias, lobelias, coralberry and vista bubblegums.
