US (MI): Funds sought for greenhouse at high school

The Addison Education Foundation, along with Addison Community Schools, is sponsoring a fundraising drive to help build a greenhouse for educational purposes on the campus.

The school has been able to raise more than $13,000 toward its $25,000 goal, according to a news release. The district plans to construct a 20-by-40-foot greenhouse outside the high school science labs. It will be used for growing and caring for plants, learning about hydroponics — growing plants without soil — and practicing aquaponics, or growing fish. The classes will also be responsible for creating and maintaining a compost pile.

Donations can be mailed to the Addison Education Foundation at P.O. Box 392, Addison MI 49220.
