An early strawberry variety called Splendor has made it possible for Huelva's strawberry producers, responsible for 90% of Spain's total production, to start the harvest before the end of the year with an excellent quality product.
This was announced by the Association of Strawberry Producers and Exporters from Huelva (Freshuelva), informing that this variety accounts for 20% of the total planted this campaign. The strawberry has a perfect appearance and size, as well as an ideal level of sweetness.
The fact that it did not rain during the past few weeks has also been helpful, as a dry season like the one we had "is favourable for the fruit's ripening process," reported sources from Freshuelva.
