Developed in response to priorities set by the HDC Hardy Nursery Stock panel, the tenders focus on two key areas of need for the sector: effective nutrient management and investigating and understanding heuchera rust and its epidemiology. The research programmes are expected to span a three year and two year period respectively.
Research Manager at HDC, Katie Irgin said, “Our panel, which is made up of representatives of the Hardy Nursery Stock sector, has found these two areas to be a priority in terms of needing further understanding and research. At the end of each of these projects we hope to have a much better insight into the issues of nutrient management and heuchera rust and be in a position to turn this information into practical measures for growers.”
The deadline for proposals for both tenders is 30 December 2013 with projects to commence in March 2014. For full information on the call for proposals and the application procedure, please visit the HDC tender page: www.hdc.org.uk/tenders .
