Tomato production in Extremadura this campaign finally reached 1.4 million tons, an amount smaller than that of 2012, but average compared to other years, according Acopaex. The president of the Extremadura ‘s Association of Cooperatives (Acopaex), Domingo Fernandez, reported that the number obtained is inferior than what was contracted, between 5% and 10%, according to the factory, due to the spring rains. These rains forced producers to plant later than usual, which affected production.
