Spain: New app to check Almeria's vegetable prices in real time
PH (Horticultural Prices), an app for iPhone and Android that lets you check real-time quotes from auctions of vegetables from Almeria, has turned heads at Valencia's Vegetable World Fair's first day. The application's site, www.precioshorticolas.com, had hundreds of hits just hours after it was released.
Many of the fairgoers, who know the great influence that markets have in setting the prices that producers in Almeria will be paid for their products, praised the app and considered it to be a useful and necessary daily management tool for farmers, traders and entrepreneurs in general.
PH is a tool which works on the latest phones' major operating systems and allows its users to check the prices of vegetables auctioned at major markets of Almeria in real time. The app has been available in Play Google for Android since October 2 and, starting next week, will be available for download on the App Store for iPhones.
Learning how to use the application is very simple and intuitive. Once downloaded, the user can configure the main data he/she wants to receive. Users can choose to receive information about all of the products in an auction or just about those that interest them. One can even choose the variety of fruit or vegetable one desires, so as to not have extra information. PH automatically lets users know when there are new prices so that they don't have to check the app continuously.
The app also has a messaging system that allows users to receive interesting information related to the weather, vegetable sales, incidents and the occurrence of uncommon pests and diseases in the agricultural environment.
