Variety followed with great interest this year:
Europe: Adele RZ contender for succession Jaylo RZ
For years now, Greenbrothers has been growing Jaylo RZ, a sturdy eggplant variety. Nevertheless, the search continues for a worthy successor. In the Rijk Zwaan demo greenhouse, a possible newcomer, Adele RZ, is followed with great interest this year.
Henk van Gurp of Greenbrothers has already expressed interest in Adele. “I’ve been following the trials with keen interest and I must say, Adele is doing quite well.” Together with Rudy van den Berg, advisor with Rijk Zwaan, he has watched progress closely. “In this stage, it’s still a matter of experimentation; to see how far we can go with this variety.”
"Compared to our standard varieties, Jaylo and Rihanna, Adele RZ started a bit slower," says Henk. "Furthermore, it was noticeable that the variety had a more delicate flower. On average, the crop is a bit more generative and shows more purple in the head. Adele could well be in line with market demand and allow a high production at the same time. In other words, it has the potential to be Jaylo’s successor.”
