Third generation of Van Adrichem to construct new 9 ha greenhouse

The third generation Van Adrichem is set to start working at the Greenhouse area of Terneuzen. Backed by their father, uncles and grandfather, brothers Sjoerd and Bas van Adrichem will grow vine tomatoes at the company’s new location in Westdorpe.

Last week saw the construction of the new 9-ha nursery Van Adrichem in Greenhouse Area Terneuzen. Geert van Adrichem Sr., founder of the company and almost 92 years old, gave the official start sign by putting the first spade in the ground. If all goes according to plan, the first crops will be harvested in April.

Much interest in Westdorpe yesterday for the new construction. Jan Taks (top left) of WarmCO2, Ton Ewout van Dalen (top right) of the accompanying consultancy Looije Agro Technics. Havecon and Rabobank dropped by, as well as Tiny Aerts of ZLTO.

Young growers
Although the two young growers are not very familiar with the area, they see the expansion as a huge opportunity. Sjoerd van Adrichem has long been involved in the family business. For Bas it’s a re-entry. He has over the years gained experience in De Kabel. He will focus primarily on personnel while Sjoerd focuses on cultivation.
