Rabobank reduces credits to food and agri sector

In the first half of this year, the Rabobank has reduced its credit to the food and agri sector by 2%, to 90.6 billion Euro. The reduction is mostly concentrated in the greenhouse sector. This is evident from the figures of the Rabobank. 59.9 billion Euro was granted to the primary agricultural sector. 32.7 billion went to the Netherlands and 57.9 billion in granted loans was distributed outside the Netherlands.

"Rabobank looks back on a difficult first half of 2013. The Dutch economy remained in recession and recovery prospects remain slim. Especially the long duration of the economic downturn takes its toll. The number of bankruptcies rose and unemployment increased. The financial situation of our customers failed to improve. This had a negative impact on our net income," writes the bank.
