Shortlist announced for 2013 International Grower of the Year

Four nurseries have made it to the final shortlist in the contest for the prestigious accolade of International Grower of the Year. Organised by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) in association with awards sponsor FloraCulture International (who also developed the initiative), the winner will be announced at a gala dinner on 11 September during the AIPH Annual Congress in Niagara Falls, Canada.

Winners of awards in their own countries the shortlist is:

• Belgium – Romberama, Leiweg, Loenhout
• The Netherlands – Sion, de Lier
• United Kingdom – Whetman Pinks, Dawlish, Devon
• Canada – Sheridan Nurseries, Georgetown, Ontario

The shortlist will be judged by an expert jury from across the world who will assess the candidates against rigorous standards to ensure that a worthy winner emerges. The winner will receive a golden rose trophy and runners-up will receive silver and bronze roses respectively.

Commenting on the contest AIPH Secretary General, Tim Briercliffe comments “This award is given to the best of the best from around the world. The standard of entries goes up all the time and each year the award demonstrates the outstanding professionalism and integrity shown by the worlds’ leading nurseries.”

The gala awards dinner, hosted this year by the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) and Landscape Ontario (LO) in Niagara Falls will provide a fitting celebration for the shortlisted candidates and the eventual winner.

Places are still available for the gala dinner and the Congress tours. To book your place contact sg@aiph.org.
