Spain: Zucchini yield 9,800 Euro per hectare
In 2011/2012, Andalusian zucchini netted producers an average profit of 9,800 Euro per hectare, 226% more than the previous season. Although the costs were slightly higher in this period, a significantly better price was paid.
According to calculations, the average greenhouse zucchini cost 2.165 Euro per square meter in the preceding season, that’s including seed, fertilizer, irrigation, labour and materials. In 2011/2012, these costs increased to 2'21 Euro per square meter.
Premium quality zucchini yielded an average of 0.34 Euro per kilo in 2010/2011. In 2011/2012 the price rose to 0.44 Euro per kilo.
