new studies show 100% effect on Listeria and E. Coli bacteria

AquaHort usage on the rise amongst vegetable growers

According to Aksel de Lasson from Aqua Hort, vegetable growers have moved in as the major users of the Aqua Hort machine at the moment. He sees more interest from the veg growers in addition the traditional use amongst flower and plant growers.

On the trial front, De Lasson mentioned that Prof. Wohanka in Geisenheim, Germany has made a study of the effect against the Listeria bacteria. "Also the professors Simmons and Garzon at North Carolina University, USA has studied the effect on the E. Coli bacteria. Both studies shows 100% effect of the Aqua-Hort," De Lasson said.

In the crop production is the Aqua-Hort system proving itself through the endless number of good results. Recent spectaculars has been with Impatiens and Chrysanthemum.

Third Generation Aqua-Hort Controls

The third generation controls released in 2011 has proved themselves. The system is sturdy, and works well under strenuous conditions. The new bigger controls with 100 or 200 amp output has found their use. The 48 Volt output option makes it more easy to tackle situations with low EC water or high flows.

A number of new facilities are being added to the controls this Summer. They include the following:
  • 1.Timer Function: A clock function has been added. Together with a new option in the Menu it allows for a time limited operation of the Aqua-Hort, apart from the normal flow controlled operation. Together with the Virtual Flow Meter facility it is for example possible to operate the Aqua-Hort boat version in a reservoir in a controlled manner.
  • 2. Electrode Metal Bank: An electrode counter has been included. When new electrodes are added, the kilos are recorded in the Menu. In line two of the display, the remaining kilos are shown at any time. Change of electrodes is thereby made more easy, as the grower can see how many kilo electrodes are remaining.
  • 3. Automatic Two-level Dosing: This facility allows for application of two dosing levels without changing the settings. It might be relevant for nurseries with two different crops, or crops in different stages of development. It works in the way that in a menu point is the deviation from the “normal” setting recorded. For example 50% more or less than the “normal” setting. A potential free contact on the main print is supplied with a signal to activate the condition. For example from a relay connected to a watering valve.
  • 4. Fuse Break Feed-back: All third generation controls are provided with automatic fuses for the electrodes. When these fuses have feed back reporters, this signal can be displayed in the Aqua-Hort display. A potential free contact on the main print serves the purpose.
