Germany: Investment for 10ha tomato greenhouse in Dinkelsbuhl

In the German town of Dinkelsbühl, tomatoes are grown year-round. Recently residents witnessed the preliminary construction of a large greenhouse complex, reports the German website br.de.

The huge project is supported by a vegetable company from 'Knoblauchsland’ in Nurnberg. The greenhouses, with offices and installations, are realized on an area of ten hectares. According to Christoph Hammer, the mayor of Dinkelsbühl, the company has earmarked 10 to 15 million for the project. There will be approximately 70 new jobs created through the venture.

In December the first tomatoes plants will be in the ground. The products will eventually be sold in Southern Germany.
