"Rijk Zwaan's Jan Doldersum's goodbye is actually a beginning"

For Jan Doldersum, the Asia Fruit Market Insight in Qingdao had a special touch. After 4 years in China, working as Chainmanager Asia for Rijk Zwaan, he will move back to the Netherlands where he will continue his work for Rijk Zwaan.

"It is with mixed feelings I am returning to The Netherlands. Both private as well as business wise it has enriched my life tremendously. It was really great to spend here such a long period and learn a lot about the country, the people and their rich culture. My family loved it here and actually are sad to leave…. They have build friendships and are now fluent in three languages. On the business side it was also a fantastic experience. A nice quote of one of the speakers during the congress was: The only constant in China is the change. So much is happening here, in such a vast pace and with a very high energy level, so it will be a big change again to come back to Holland. However, doing business in China is not easy. You have to be fully committed, be very adaptable, follow things closely and have a strong persistence. Finding the Chinese (local) solution that is what most companies have to accept and to deal with. I have built over the last years a great network of people here in Asia and we expect a lot of growth for the coming years. It has been literally sowing the seeds for future success.

"In August I will take a new global role as marketing and business development manager. I will be based at the Rijk Zwaan HQ in De Lier but I will still be travelling to Asia. During a special dinner in Qingdao where we invited our partners in the chain I have thanked all the partners with whom I have worked intensively the last 4 years. The title of my farewell speech was ‘Thank you contribute’, because it was so great to get so much support and commitment from our customers. This is not the end, it is only the beginning of a long lasting business relationship!"
