Spain: Nunhems developes easy to grow Maremagno marmande tomato
The Marmande tomato variety is relatively new to most growers. Nunhems' Maremagno allows farmers to grow a tomato with the characteristic appearance of a traditional Marmande as late as June. This is a commercial advantage compared to other varieties, which can typically be harvested until April. This offers new revenue opportunities for growers, who can now grow this variety without necessarily being an expert in the production of the Marmande.
The Maremagno F1
The realization of the Maremagno is made possible thanks to technicians at Nunhems, who have developed this highly competitive race. The variety is characterized for its ribbed shape and dark green color, which changes during ripening. It is a sturdy tomato with the traditional bittersweet taste belonging to the exclusive Marmande.
