In fact, many of the companies located in this area are part of Pachino's PGI consortium, a brand which confers prestige to a product that is already precious because of its nutritional and organoleptic qualities.
Southern Seed wanted to present Hathoer F1 cherry tomatoes in the interest of all of those companies cultivating this vegetable, as they combine all of those characteristics that producers and consumers are looking for in cherry tomatoes.
Last week, one of the numerous open days of Southern Seed took place, and the protagonist was Hathor F1. A greenhouse display was set up in the company owned by Mr. Michele Mallia located in da Rinazzi - Pagliariello, where numerous companies and operators could check in person the characteristics of this variety.
It was also possible to have a look at the other Southern Seed varieties such as Edad F1, King F1 and Durendal F1 red peppers; Centonove F1, Mistral F1, Casero F1 and Frankone F1 yellow peppers; Ceryto F1, Ipparino F1 and Libertino F1 cherry tomatoes; Presidente F1, Alan F1 and Novecento F1 tomatoes and Venere Nera F1, Gloria F1, Wanda F1 and Bella Vittoria F1 aubergines.
Companies could also take a look at green tomatoes, which are also a typical product of the region.
Mr. Carlo Cannella (Southern Seed's Syracuse agent) and land surveyor Giuseppe Dezio guided the tours of the display greenhouse in order to illustrate the main tolerances of Hathor F1 (TYLCV, FOL 1-2, T0MV, Va, Vd, TSWV).
"Hathor F1 is ideal for us producers, as we want to supply consumers with a high quality produce with a taste that can identify a whole territory," explains Joe Fortunato, producer and owner of one of the biggest companies in the Pachino area.
"Hathor F1 was a revelation and we hope that the results that were achieved in this greenhouse are a good omen in order to continue offering our clients an increasingly better quality," say Mr. Di Stefano and Mr. Galfo from the Faro Cooperative, another major producer organisation in Pachino.
Among the hundreds of visitors, many nurseries also took part in the event such as Centro Seia, Vivai dell'Alto and Area Verde, and their technicians praised the hardiness of plants, their tolerances and the fruition balance.
Once again, Southern Seed reached its goal of offering producers and all of the other companies dealing with cherry tomatoes a variety that meets their production and the quality requirements of a product that is the feather in the cap of Sicily.
Southern Seed wishes to thank the Mallia Michele company for its availability, the Fortunato company, the Faro cooperative, the nursery gardens, technicians and all of the other companies who took part in the event and made it successful.
